The story is born from the assassination of José Sebastião Rios de Moura, a member of the left-wing group Dissidência da Guanabara. He participated in the kidnapping of American ambassador Charles Elbrick in 1969 and remained in exile for ten years before returning to Brazil to be killed in a crime with strong evidence of political motivation and which still has no solution yet today. The main conflict is based on an essay that the boy Adonias, José`s nephew, has to write. The task was requested on the same day that the uncle was attacked, in 1983, in Salvador, and taken to the hospital in serious condition. From then on, Adonias has to deal with the sadness of the family, the disagreements at school and the anguish of fulfilling the task asked by teacher Adriana.
