Beyond the Ocean (1999)
Sobre o filme
Pitsee is a young Russian girl who arrives in New York, pregnant, to start life anew with her American boyfriend. Rejected by the father of her child and out of place within the framework of a reality she neither recognizes nor understands, she looks back on a sequence of non-resolved events and issues in her past. The scenes in America are filmed in bold color, while the sequence on her life in Russia comes in surprising black and white. The director produces a masterful blend of what, in truth, are two films about two separate worlds, towards a merger that provides a precise psychological profile of a woman lost on an arduous and passionate journey.
