Sobre o filme

In 1964, Cassius Clay, a young boxer who won a gold medal in the Olympics, burts, onto the American sports scene. Out-spoken, holding forth in no uncertain terms, he goes beyond the image of an athlete and in no time becomes a national idol. In all his pride, in the unshakeable belief that he is the greatest boxer of all times, Clay revolutionized the image of black sportsmen in the U.S. A friend of Malcom X, he is converted to Islam and abandons his "name of a slave" to be known in future as Muhammad Ali. the film Ali, nominated for Oscar for Best Actor (Will Smith) and Best Supporting Actor (Jon Voight), retraces the trajectory of the athlete culminating in the historical fight against George Foreman in Zaire in 1974.
