When the Sky Falls (2000)
Sobre o filme
A police drama adapted from a real story. Sinead Hamilton is a reporter investigating and terrified at the corruption and drug traffic that hold sway over her native Dublin. Determined to do something so that the city will become a safe place where she can go out for walks with her son, she devotes herself to publishing a series of articles that expose the leaders of the local traffic and their dubious connections with terrorists from IRA (The Irish Republic Army). Sinead`s work has an enormous reach, and she earns herself dangerous enemies in the underground world of crime, in addition to others among the corrupt sectors of the local police. When the Sky Falls is based on the life of Irish journalist Veronica Guerin who collaborated in the initial stages with the script for the film until she was assassinated by members of the drug cartel she denounced in her articles. Under pressure, the producers were obliged to change the names of the main characters and to modify parts of the original script.
