In this autobiographical report, China, in 1992, is vulnerable to the influence of the global market economy. In one small province, privately-owned coal mines appear from night to day. The majority are not licensed to operate and do not meet the minimum requirements in terms of security. iners are often killed in explosions, while the owners of the mines get rich. Local schools are not provided with doors or with walls, and the dust envelops all. At the center of the plot are three young friends and a gang that attacks the younger ones.
