Champions (2004)
Sobre o filme
A politically incorrect existential comedy where obsession, love, quackery and fantasy mingle during a World Ice Hockey Tournament that is broadcast on TV and watched from a honky tonk bar by the inhabitants of an inhospitable village at the confines of the Czech Republic. Among these complex characters are Karel, who believes that his wife, Zedna, still loves him. She, in turn, has a crush on Milan, a bus driver who dreams of piloting boats. Joseph, who seems to be darker than the average Czech, believes he has friends and is not a gypsy. Depressed with life, Jarda has become quite cynical about people, including his own son. The local drunkard, Bohous, creates vivid delusions and visions that he is watching the games before they even started. On this account, Karel and Joseph think that Bohous can serve as a springboard to their financial independence.
