In a hotel named “Casa de los Babys”, in a South American country, several American women wait their turn to adopt local children. An illegal and profitable scheme, ran by the hotel’ owner, Mrs. Muñoz, and her brother, a lawyer in charge of legalizing the adoption proceedings. Each one of these women has a story to tell and enough time to do it, since they have to wait for weeks until all the arrangements are done. The athletic Skipper has had 3 abortions and the way she talks about each one of them, shows she’ deeply hurt for the death of her children. Gayle became sterile after years of alcoholism. Leslie can‚Äôt keep a relationship with any man long enough to create a bond. Jennifer can‚Äôt have babies. Nan, the less sensible of them all, can be cynical enough to bargain the adoption costs. Behind this illegal business, there is also the drama lived by the mothers, forced to give up their children, due to their penury, and the children abandoned on the street, nearby the hotel.
