Sobre o filme
Based on real fact. The story of Roxie Hart who kills her rich lover in cold blood after he announces he will leave her. She tells her husband, Amos Hart, in love with her, that it was a thief. In prison, Roxie meets another murderess, Velma Kelly, and a journalist who makes good use of the situation for a scoop. The husband is still deeply attached to his wife and hires a famous lawyer to defend her. He succeeds in his efforts, and Roxie is absolved when she convincingly bursts into tears before the jury. Home again, Roxie finds her husband desperate, for he had robbed money to pay the lawyer. And Amos realizes that his wife is not sorry for what she has done. Restored by the Cinemateca Francesa, the film was adapted in Broadway as a musical by Bob Fosse, with a version for cinema with Ginger Rogers : Roxie Hart (1942) : and another, recently, directed by Rob Marshall, winner of the Oscar in 2002.
