Gipsy (2002)
Sobre o filme
The inhabitants of the village of Talkhak believe that, to kill a skylark will bring ruin. Rassul, a boy, spends his time hunting for larks in response to another popular belief : that he can make it rain. It is a time of drought in Talkhak and the population decide to hold a religious rite. One of the residents is sent to invite a dotar player (a dotar is a traditional instrument) to take part in the ceremony. They believe that the sound of the melody has the power to bring them clouds and rain. The musician arrives some days after, the peasants make a circle around him and the ceremony begins. With the music for a background, Rassul arrives with all the skylarks he has managed to hunt down. His arrival upsets the ritual, and the dotar player leaves the village abruptly. The boy goes after the musician to persuade him to complete the rain ceremony.
