Country Concert (2003)
Sobre o filme
In Rio Grande do Sul, in mid-nineteenth century, Major Eleutério Fontes is one of the barons who made a fortune during the jerk beef and leather cycle. He is a rough, outspoken man, who during a journey over his vast domains, hears two Guarani Indians play sacred music. He is much taken with the beauty of the melodies and decides to take the Indians home to live in his house, on condition they play to him at meal times. The news spreads that the Major is hiring musicians and a veritable host of musicians come knocking at his door. Not knowing what to do with so many performers, he follows the advice of the parish priest and decides to start an orchestra. Trouble is in the offing when the only daughter of the Major falls in love with the conductor, counter to plans drawn up by the family who intended to marry her off to a nephew, the heir to a powerful baron.
