Judith Ralitzer, a femme fatale and popular author of police novels, is interrogated in a Paris police station on the death of her secretary and a supposed connection with a serial killer who has been arrested. The assassin also accused of pedophilia goes by the name of Mágico, owing to his habit of performing magic tricks to his victims. In search of new characters for her stories, the writer is said to have resorted to him as a source. But all are surprised when the criminal manages to escape from a high security prison. Soon after, Huguette, a hairdresser in a famous Paris salon is at a gas station on the edge of the road. She has been left there by her boyfriend after a quarrel and she is approached by a stranger with dubious conversation.
