Sofia, a well-dressed young woman from a traditional, wealthy background, moves with her family to a house that once belonged to Madam Margoth, a famous courtesan who died in the 1920s. Sofia is fascinated by the personal possessions of the former owner of the house. In search of an identity, she abruptly leaves home and is run over.
