Martino is a nightwatchman at the Turim Film Museum. But he regards his job as much more than mere work. After midnight, alone in the long corridors, it is as though he were the owner of the palace. He spends the night watching old silent movies, and then takes refuge in an abandoned office for the rest of the day. Angel engages in petty theft on the outskirts of town, and is fond of cars and women. His girlfriend is Amanda who works in a snackbar and would like to lead a normal life, which she knows is well beyond her means. One day she finds herself in trouble with the police and during the flight, hides in the same museum Martino watches over, The nightwatchman and the girl could not be more different. He is used to solitude and must now share his space with the girl. She, in turn, has never imagined that a place as fascinating could exist. Gradually they feel drawn one to the other. But Angel will come in search of his girl.
