In 1943 they had never so much as set foot in France, but owing to the Second World War, Said, Abdelkader, Messaoud, and Yassir, together with another 130 thousand "indigenous" from the same Algerian village joined up with the French army to liberate their native land from the Nazi enemy forces. Forgotten in history, these heroes actually won several battles before finding themselves alone, defending a small village in Alsace against the German battalions.
