Sobre o filme

This is a story of mutual admiration of one artist for another. Sydney Pollack, who knows little about architecture, except what he admires, was invited by his friend, renowned architect Frank Gehry, to make a documentary on his life and method at work. One of the great American filmmakers, actor, producer, and director of acknowledged masterpieces such as They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969), Tootsie (1982), and Out of Africa (1985), he accepted the challenge, and so, on to his first documentary. The collaboration between both resulted in something special. Gehry is at his most natural before Pollack?s camera. The personal life of the architect and his work, such as the structures of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain and those of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, in Los Angeles, are presented in the documentary. The production includes statements from friends of the architect, among others, rock singer Bob Geldof, actor Dennis Hopper, film magnates Michael Eisner and Michael Ovitz, and painter Julian Schnabel.
