Fabricating Tom Zé (2006)
Sobre o filme
A documentary that shows the life and work of one of the most controversial "tropicalistas", where the main theme is his tour through Europe, in 2005. Combining different formats (video, film, and animation) the film shows a detailed vision of the musical world of Tom Zé, to whom a double-bass and a gritstone were of the same melodic importance. In intimistic interviews, the artist tells of different phases in his life, and of how he began his career in the sixties, the ostracism of the seventies, and his revival in the early nineties. The film also includes interviews with Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and David Byrne (that re-invented him on the international market), among others. Directing the photography is Lula Carvalho, son of master Walter Carvalho, with whom he worked in Moacir – Arte Bruta (2006), selection for the 29th Mostra. Lula also did the photography for Incuráveis, to be shown at the 30th Mostra.
