Peacefire (2008)
Sobre o filme
Set in the north of Ireland in the months leading up to the first IRA ceasefire in 1994, Peacefire tells the story of Colin Mc Nally, a young man coming of age against a background of political turmoil. Colin lives alone with his mother Avril in a housing project in County Armagh. When Colin is four years old, his father, an IRA volunteer, is killed by loyalist paramilitaries. Avril, his mother, never recovers from this event and completely withdraws from society. She cloisters Colin, determined to protect him from the fate that befell his father. Jimbo Doyle, Colin’s best friend, introduces him to Spuds Murphy, one of the most infamous ‘joy riders’ in Craigavon. Desperate for release from the claustrophobic conditions of his home life, Colin joins with Jimbo and Spuds in a campaign of stealing and burning cars.
