A profile of the most famous right-wing in Brazilian football, then at the top of his career. This was the first Brazilian documentary on a sportsman showing classic scenes of the 1958 and of the 1962 World Cups. The documentary approaches football as a social phenomenon, shows the beauty of the game as played by the idol with the euphoria and suffering on the part of the football crowd, and speaks out against political uses of the people`s love of sport. The film was awarded the Carlos Alberto Chieza Prize for Best Film on Sport at the 1964 Cortina d`Ampezzo Film Festival, in Italy. The narration is by Heron Domingues, with David Neves as assistant director and the future filmmaker Eduardo Escorel responsible for direct sound. Nelson Rodrigues said about the film: "I always say that Mané (Garrincha) is as much of the earth as are chameleons, as are wild guinea pigs. And if it were possible to have an audience of guinea-pigs and of chameleons, the animals would give the film a standing ovation and ask for an encore, just as in opera."
