Sobre o filme

A film based on real facts that occurred in 1994 during a journey taken by Alvin Straight, age 73, from the city of Laurens, in the state of Iowa on his way to Mt. Zion in Wisconsin. The journey on a small grass cutter covered hundreds of kilometers and took over six weeks. He did all of this to make up with his brother Lyle, age 76 and severely ill. The two brothers had not been on speaking terms for over ten years. Rose, Alvin’s daughter had a telephone call to the effect that Lyle, her uncle, had suffered a stroke. Alvin thought about his relationship with his brother, and came to the conclusion that it was about time for the two of them to bury resentment over the past. There were, however, obstacles to overcome such as his impaired vision and a lack of money. Under the eye of his perplexed daughter, he takes to the road dragging a makeshift trailer with a load of supplies such as gasoline, coffee, insect repelent, candy, and some canned goods. His journey will be of reconciliation with Lyle and also with himself.
