Tsotsi, a young leader of a Johannesburg gang, lives a routine marked by delinquency until one day, when, after an armed attack, he finds himself obliged to make choices that will change the direction of his life. Tsotsi steals a car, fires point blank at a woman, only to realize that he has, inadvertently, kidnapped his victim?s child - a baby whose innocence and vulnerability bring back all but forgotten memories and compel him to reflect on his conduct. An adaptation of the novel by Athol Fugard. The soun track includes several songs, also, by actress Zola. Tsotsi won the 2006 Foreign Film Oscar and was awarded the Prize from the Public at the Denver, Edinburgh, St. Louis, and Toronto Film Festivals, in addition to the Grand Prize from the Jury and the Prize from the Public (a tie with C.R.A.Z.Y., also selected for the 30th Mostra) at the American Film Institute Festival, all of these in 2005.
