Anxiety (1998)
Sobre o filme
A tryptich consisting of an adaptation of three heterogeneous texts:
Os Imortais, a theater play by Prista Monteiro; Suzy, a novel by Antonio Patrício; and, Mãe de Um Rio, a mythical narrative reformulated by Agustina Bessa-Luís. The first, in a false philosophical tone, broaches the torment of an old father who induces his son to suicide so that he may become imortal. The second, with touches of romanticism, follows the misadventures of a prostitute in the region of Porto in the thirties, courted by a man shattered by love. And the third, influenced by a folk style, tells the story of a young girl who discovers she has fingers of gold. These are disconnected stories, masterfully interconnected from the point of view of the film maker who moves from one episode to the next without losing the coherence and beauty in unusual creative planes. Shown at the 22nd Mostra.
