Director Jean Beaudin offers a reflection on marriage through the relationship between a photographer and his wife. J.A. Martin lives in Quebec in the late 19th century, and makes a living taking portraits of people in the region. One summer, after 15 years together, his wife decides to accompany him on his trip. The story then shows the rejuvenation of this marriage.
