Sobre o filme

Joel Rothman cannot sleep, but insomnia would seem to be the least of his ills. His wife has abandoned him, his boss does all he can to have him dismissed, and his young daughter, Jenny, is suffering from severe psychological disorders since her mother left. At night, in discontent, Joel goes over the same ritual - listening, in the early hours, obsessively, to the farewell message his wife left recorded on the answering machine. To make matters worse, Joel must, at work, care for three patients with severe mental problems: Victor, living in a fantasy world of conspiracy and secret experiments; Sophie, a case of attempted suicide who firmly believes that she and the rest of the group are immortal; and Chandra, who believes the city is slowly shrinking and who spends most of her time caring for a non-existent sister in coma. Little by little, the group?s illusions start to merge and become collective hallucinations. Caring for these patients, and coping with his own anguish, Joel discovers the mystery of his own life.
