Machuca (2004)
Sobre o filme
Chile, 1973. Infante Gonzalo and Pedro Machuca are two eleven-year-old boys that live in Santiago, the first, in a sophisticated neighborhood, and the second, in a humble illegal village nearby. Two worlds set apart by an invisible wall that some dream to knock down so as to build a fairer society. One of these dreamers is Father McEnroe, headmaster of a private elite school. With the help of other clergy, he decides to integrate these two universes by opening the gates of his school to the children of the families in the village. And so it happens that Pedro Machuca ends up in the same classroom as Infante Gonzalo, and a friendship bound with discovery and surprise is thus born, despite the atmosphere of confrontation that the Chilean society faces in the violent transition from Allende to Pinochet.
