Carmen and Lourdes work in Tijuana ?maquiladoras?, factories belonging to foreigners who are in Mexico in search of cheap labor and that are immune to labor laws. Each day, these workers have their rights violated, face up to environmental devastation and urban chaos. In Maquilapolis, they try to go beyond the daily effort to survive and manage to organize themselves in unions. They also use videocameras to document how globalization is transforming their city and to show the hope they have in the future.
