Jorge is 28 years old and no longer feels he is promising in Argentine literature, as he was some years previously. Even so, he continues to devote himself to his trade and earns a living selling short stories to a current magazine. One night he meets Laura, a waitress, a dreamer who dates an artist from whom she has not heard for some time. They build a relationship. The film follows along with twenty years of life for both, and shows dreams, achievements, and illusions with good humor. The main facts in the recent history of the country succeed one another, and are incorporated to the story: the period of the military dictatorship, the democratic disappointment under Alfonsin, the turbulent Menem government...
