“I should make this film in various countries of the Third World. It would be a kind of documentary, a preliminary draft. However, in this form, to whom would it be of interest other than to the few politicized members of the elite interested in problems of the Third World?”, said Pasolini of this production. The film was never made; however, the filmmaker adapted it into a documentary for TV. “This is one of the most beautiful films by Pasolini. Not in the least conventional, not at all picturesque, the documentary shows us Africa as authentic and, in a way, exotic and thus, more mysterious than the very mystery of existence”, said Italian poet Alberto Moravia.
