A small boy and his friend are thrilled to push a girl on a swing. Those moments are the happiest of their lives, marked by bucolic harmony and by happy, traditional tunes popular in Kirghizistan, the “selkinchek” (original title of the film). The harmonious atmosphere is, however, to be dispelled by the arrival of a sailor who returns from one of his travels and takes her away. From now on, he is the one who is going to sing to her. “This is a film - a confession where the sensations of childhood remain as an important part of life”, says the director. The film was awarded the Leopardo de Amanhã prize at the Locarno Festival (Switzerland) and the first prize at the Potsdam Festival (Germany).
