Bruno Bonomo is a famous producer of B films from the seventies who, after a long gap of ten years following the commercial failure of his last film, has signed a contract with RAI to produce an epic on Christopher Columbus. When the project flounders because of high costs, Bonomo is obliged to offer a second script to the RAI. Hence, Il Caimano, written by young director, Teresa. The film within a film centers on the person of Prime Minister and communications magnate Silvio Berlusconi. With Bonomo?s personal life in a state of collapse, with his wife sueing for divorce and pressure from the bank to pay off his debts, he has only the film left, on which to survive.
