In a near future, the world is the scene of unheard of phenomena: snowfall in New York in broad summer, with the law of gravity disappearing in Uganda, and lonely people dying of sadness. In the midst of all of this, John, from Poland, is meeting his wife Elena, a famous skating star, in New York, to sign his divorce papers. They change their mind and decide to give their marriage a second chance, go back to the country and try and live a quieter life. The trouble is that the skating team have very different plans and conspire against her. The first film made in the United States by Thomas Vinterberg, director of the controversial The Celebration. Music by Zbigniew Preisner, a composer who worked on most of the films by Krysztof Kieslowski.
