On the Verge of a Fever (2004)
Sobre o filme
Haiti, 1971. With the death of dictator François "Papa Doc" Chevalier, the former French colony passes, by a transition of power, over to the hands of his son, Baby Doc. The hot days on the island also herald the advent into adulthood of Fanfan. A boy of 15, with sensitive hormones, all he can think about is to free himself from an overprotective mother and explore the world. He sets off for a stroll about town, in the company of his friend Gegé, a small juvenile delinquent. The outing is brusquely brought to an end by an incident involving a Tonton Macoute, one of the terrifying members of the government secret police. Fanfan is then driven to take refuge in the house of his beautiful neighbor, Miki. In an unforgettable weekend, Fanfan is assailed by contradictory feelings: fear of being arrested, anxiety to tell his mother of his whereabouts, and the joy of discovering the company of Miki and the other girls, her friends.
