My Case (1986)
Sobre o filme
In a theater, shortly before the start of the play, the curtain is raised, and a man takes the stage pleading desperately that he be heard by the audience. He asks to "expound on his own case". He is soon interrupted by a member of the theater staff and then, by an actress, by the author himself, and, finally, by all of the company. Each holds forth about his "own case" and a debate ensues. The play is finally to be performed, but the discussion by those present begins once more, in the same way. A passage by Samuel Beckett is heard. The plot includes excerpts from the literature of José Régio, Samuel Beckett, and from The Book of Job in the Old Testament. Shown as part of the Manoel de Oliveira retrospective at the 15th Mostra.
