This documentary analyzes the aesthetics of National Socialist cinema, and the history of the 3rd Reich is investigated from film footage and time pieces of the period. A chronological sequence of the German cinema production between 1918 and 1945 is presented with focus on Nazi documentaries and the so-called “Kultur films”, which portrayed a deceptive world where Hitler’s destructive goals were evident from the very beginning. The director tells that in a preview screening of this documentary, an old lady who had seen all the said films reported that she had believed them all, but now they look ever so ridiculous…
