The World Is Waiting Us (2006)
Sobre o filme
Peter, unemployed and age 30, lives alone in his apartment in a housing scheme in Silesia, in the south of Poland. He is supported by his mother who, each month gives him half of her pension. Peter has nightmares at night. In his dreams, he sees himself having sex with his mother. One day, she arrives home in tears. The postman who delivers her pension has run away with all the money. Upset by the robbery, Peter?s mother interns herself in a sanatorium thereby obliging her son to survive on his own. Sproket, a friend of Peter?s, has an idea about how they can get some money: find an older woman that will sponsor Peter in exchange for sexual favors. He selects a neighbor of Peter?s, Barbara, age 50. The blind date is a failure. Under pressure and famished, Peter is unable to perform his obligations as a man. Sproket is furious, tells Peter off, and abandons him. Peter goes to an employment agency in search of any sort of job. There, he loses all hope, for he does not have the qualifications. To eat, he begs for money at the door of the church, pawns his recorder, and works in a supermarket. Sometimes, he does manage to get some money, but a bully, a vagrant, invariably beats him up and takes away all Peter can manage to earn. When he visits his mother in the sanatorium, he cannot let on about his real condition. He makes up stories about a good job. Peter is to reach the bottom of the well and, only then, will he undergo an inner transformation.
