Marina Gayoto is a young bandoneón player who earns a living playing in bars and subway stations. The great opportunity in her life arises when she applies at an audition with conductor Rodolfo Mederos to be part of a new orchestra. But her instrument is very deteriorated, and Mederos himself suggests she needs to get a new bandoneón on a standard with her commitment. Marina then undertakes an impetuous search for the mythical Doble A, the Stradivarius among bandoneóns. Her search takes her through the traditional dance halls of her city where she meets veteran maestros of the tango and discovers the former glories of this historical instrument.
