OH Dae-soo is an ordinary man, who lives happily with his wife and a small daughter. One day, he is kidnapped and thrown into a private prison. While in captivity, he is subjected to all sorts of violence. He gets completely desperate and tries to commit suicide several times, but is always prevented from dying. Dae-soo spends 15 years in captivity under extreme conditions wondering who is responsible for his ordeal and why so much cruelty. One day, his is allowed to watch the news on TV and learns that his wife has been murdered. From then on, Dae-soo decides that his only aim in life is to avenge himself of his captors. One day, he is freed and given a wallet full of money and a cell phone. He receives a call from a man who asks him if he understands why he was kidnapped. A duel between Dae-soo and this stranger takes place. The former seeks to find the man’ identity and hideout, while the latter just wants to accomplish his hideous revenge on his ex-prisoner.
