Cocada and Nego are friends living in Pernambuco. Cocada, whose father was assassinated, is 14 and sleeps in the cabin of a truck belonging to Mineiro whom he has elected to be a father figure. His dream is to be a driver, and he does odd jobs to earn some small change. Nego lives in a favela shanty town and is 13. His mother does everything she can to make him study, but the boy really wants to work and earn money. In a gas station on the edge of the road, the two of them observe the ceaseless coming and going of traffic and ask themselves about the future. There is only one prospect in view: to leave for São Paulo, to leave for somewhere else.
