To prevent her son Frankie from knowing the truth, Lizzie creates a story about his father. Frequently, she writes letters to a fictitious father who works on a ship and travels to exotic places around the world. But the game will soon be over. Lizzie finds out that the ship which the fictitious father works will arrive in a few days and the boys knows it. Now she has to choose between telling Frankie the truth or find someone to play the part of the perfect father to the boy.
