Raúl Barboza, the Feeling of Embracing (2003)
Sobre o filme
A documentary about the Argentinean accordionist and guitar player Raúl Barboza, who moved to Paris in 1987 at 50 years of age, and became one of the greatest representatives of the “chamamé” rhythm, one of the most authentic Argentinean folk music expressions. The camera follows the musician at live concerts, rehearsals and studio recording sessions, thus allowing viewers to fully appreciate his music research process, his arrangements and compositions, as well as several improvisations. The film also tells about Barboza’s background as a self-taught artist, who first joined other instrumentists - including his father, the composer and guitarist Adolfo Barboza – when he was 9 years old. His connection with his homeland, which he visits at least once year, allows him to explore both his indigenous roots and nature’s myriad sounds.
