The Night Listener (2006)
Sobre o filme
Gabriel is the presenter of a night radio program that is extremely popular in New York in which he tells stories of his life. He begins to receive telephone calls from Pete, a precocious, problematical, teenager who insists he is his Number One fan. Gabriel has recently been abandoned by his partner and is lacking someone who will listen to him and pay him attention. He develops a fascination for his admirer. The boy tells him he was sexually molested, that he has Aids and little time left, which captures the imagination of the broadcaster to the extent that his own life, so very methodical up to then, becomes a frightening ordeal in search of the truth about Pete. The film is an adaptation of the novel by the same name by Armistead Maupin, known for his series of six books, Tales of the City. The cast includes actors that are used to gay friendly roles: Toni Collette (Velvet Goldmine, selection for the 22nd Mostra; The Hours, special showing at the 29th Mostra; Connie and Carla), Robin Williams (The Birdcage), Bobby Cannavale (Happy Endings, selection for the 29th Mostra; Will & Grace series), and Sandra Oh (Under the Tuscan Sun).
