It is an amusing journey through the musical world of an eccentric creative genius. Artist, inventor, engineer, composer Trimpin avoids the commercial art world. He has never been represented by a gallery or a manager, doesn‚Äôt have a cellphone or a website, and will not permit commercial recordings of his music. Yet Trimpin’ wild kinetic sculptures and outrageous musical experiments are cherished by museums all over the planet. Filmed over two years, this documentary feature follows the artist/inventor as he designs a perpetual motion machine, builds a 60-foot tower of 700 automatic electric guitars, collaborates with the Kronos Quartet on an outrageous music premiere for toy instruments, and investigates his musical roots in his hometown in rural Germany.
