A wit and sincere portrayal of the inadequacy problems faced by teenagers. Jana is a 13 year old girl, whose world turned upside-down since her parents divorced. After the divorce, she’ forced to live with her grandmother in Vienna. Uncertain, she wants to meet the father, who has abandoned her and struggles with the mother, blaming her for the divorce. Feeling a stranger in the city, she tries to fit in the community by going to the church, but plays the fool when she proposes to be the acolyte, an occupation for boys only. Extremely shy to answer a letter from a class mate who confesses his feelings for her, she ends up betrayed by another jealous friend.
