Snow Cake (2006)
Sobre o filme
Alex is a reserved Englishman well into his fifties who, on a stretch of road covered in snow near Ontario, takes it upon himself to give young Vivienne a lift. He is involved in a car accident that she does not live through, and she dies there, on the site of the crash. Overcome with guilt, he goes in search of her mother. Linda, however, is no ordinary mother: she is autistic and for this reason incapable of giving vent to her grief over the loss of her daughter. Alex then decides he will spend a few days at Linda?s house, at least until her parents arrive for the funeral. He gradually starts to interact in her day-to-day life, and, at the same time, becomes involved with her pretty neighbor, Maggie, used to denying her feelings. Gradually they change, and when the snow begins to thaw out, their life will no longer be the same. The sound track is by the Broken-Social-Scene indie band, on an experimental line, that also produced the music for the film Half Nelson, also selected for the 30th Mostra.
