Shame (1968)
Sobre o filme
Civil war sweeps across the Baltic lands. Eva and Jan are musicians
who have withdrawn to a remote island where they eke out a living by
growing and selling fruit. The island is invaded. A guerrilla movement
arises, involving many civilians. Jan’s old friend, Jacobi, proves to be
a quisling. He arrests Jan and Eva, but soon releases them. He
comes to their cottage and tries to make some kind of meaningful
contact with them. While Jan is asleep Jacobi and Eva make love.
When Jan discovers this, he steals Jacobi´s savings. Jacobi cannot
buy himself out of trouble, and Jan becomes his unwilling executioner.
Jan and Eva flee with their scanty possessions. They purchase a
place on board a rowing boat. But the food and water run out. The
boat is left to drift forever in the vast sea.
