The French director, who passed away in July 2012, produced this fi lm for the renowned French TV series Cinema of our Time; it soon became one of the main films among dozens of others to pay tribute to Andrey Tarkovsky. The fi lm blends excerpts from the works of the Russian filmmaker with behind-the-scenes footage from The Sacrifice (1985). It also shows the director during the last year of his life, in Paris, and his reunion with his son Andrey Andreievich, who he had been kept away from for many years by the former Soviet Union’s authorities.
