Martha’s New Coat (2002)
Sobre o filme
Martha, a girl of 15, feels imprisoned in the small town where she lives with her sister, Elsie, and her mother, who sees her as a bit of a joke. The nights are freezing, older men look at her maliciously, and there is racial tension between rival groups of teenagers. She takes refuge in country music she plays on the local radio and is trying to extricate herself from the grip of a trouble-maker, her latest attempt at finding herself a boyfriend. The father left the family years before. When her mother will not take her to the seaside for her birthday, Martha decides to go on her own and takes her sister along with her. Together they travel the coast of Australia in an endeavor to find their father. Along the way, they discover that they have other things to find. And that there is no such thing as a perfect family.
