In 1979, American artist Ed Ruscha allegedly made a fake rock out of resin and hid it among real ones somewhere in California`s Mojave Desert. Titled "Rocky II", in reference to the Sylvester Stallone film, the work is not listed in any catalogue of Ruscha`s creations. Obsessed with the story, Oscar-winning screenwriter of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004), Pierre Bismuth sets out to find the rock in this blend of documentary and fiction featuring the participation of fellow screenwriters D.V. DeVincentis, from "High Fidelity" (2000), Anthony Peckham, from "Invictus" (2009), and Mike White, from "School of Rock" (2003).
