Cassigoli is an Italian filmmaker who lived in Berlin, where he directed documentaries for ARTE. Together with Kauffman, a North-American director, they directed “Butterfly” (2018), a feature length documentary that screened at IDFA and Hot Docs. In 2021, they turned to fiction with “Californie” (2021), which premiered in the Giornate degli Autori at the Venice International Film Festival, winning the Europa Cinemas Label and the BNL Award for best screenplay.
