Born in Berlin in 1986. Aslı studied theater and media at the University of Bayreuth, philosophy and sociology at the Université Sorbonne IV and documentary film directing at FilmakademieBaden-Württemberg. In 2012, she created the video installation “Kanak Sprak Bist Du”, about the German dialect spoken by young people in multiethnic communities. She directed the films “Insel 36” (2014) and her diploma film “Dil Leyla” (2016). “Elbow” is her first feature film.
