He made his feature film directorial debut with “Shivers” in 1975. Among his most important works are “The Brood” (1979), “Scanners” (1981), “Videodrome” (1982), “The Dead Zone” (1983), “The Fly” (1986), “Dead Ringers” (1988), “Naked Lunch” (1991), “Crash” (1996), which won the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival, “eXistenZ” (1999), winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival for the outstanding artistic contribution, “Spider” (2002, 26th Mostra), “A History of Violence” (2005, 29th Mostra), a segment of the collective movie “To Each His Own Cinema” (2007, 31st Mostra), “Eastern Promises” (2007, 31st Mostra), “A Dangerous Method” (2011), “Cosmopolis” (2012), “Maps to the Stars” (2014) and “Crimes of the Future” (2022).
